Launceston Carnival is set to take place on Saturday, 11th October, and the committee are on the search for volunteers and participants to help make this an unforgettable event for years to come.

The carnival is always an exciting time in the calendar, but did you know how much work goes into the planning and delivery of this event?
The committee is looking to welcome some new committee members to help take the event forward in the future. This year alone, just five committee members came together to plan the carnival, with the matter of managing road closures on top of everything else hanging in the balance until, thankfully, Mr Andrew Jackson stepped in to take on this task. While the workload has been challenging, in July the committee agreed that the carnival would proceed. However, they would love to hear from anyone with some spare time or some skills that would bolster carnival plans. If you’d like to help out with this year’s event, or put yourself forward to help take the carnival forward in the coming years, email davergordon@hotmail.co.uk
The committee also encourages everyone to get involved with this year’s carnival parade, whether you want to have some fun with friends or family, or plan on coming up with something unique to represent your business in town. Application forms are available from the Visitor Information Centre in the White Hart Arcade. All the usual fun carnival activities will take place in the town centre on carnival day, including food and drink, entertainment and carnival rides, before the illuminated evening parade starts at Newport and makes its way up into town.
