Launceston's 'Festival of Trees' begins this Friday
St Mary Magdalene Church will once again be holding the very popular Festival of Trees and Cribs this year, beginning this Friday night to coincide with Launceston's Christmas lights switch-on and late night shopping.

The festival will open at 7pm on Friday, 28th November. The church will come alive with twinkling tree lights, carols sung by the church choir, and warming refreshments. Visitors will then be able to view the festival every day between 10am-4pm until Saturday, 13th December. Expect coffee, tea and cakes, plus seasonal music during your visit, arranged by the church's Director of Music, Dr Sean Sweeney.
St Mary’s Church Choir will also hold an Advent Carol Service at 5.30pm on Sunday, 30th November.
The trees will once again represent the diverse community here in Launceston, from schools, charities and social groups, to churches and businesses in the town. Our
Proceeds from the festival will go to the Launceston Foodbank and to keep the heating in St Mary’s going, ensuring the church can be kept as a warm space for the community this winter.
This is one of those annual community events that holds a special place in many people's hearts. For lots of us, it signals the start of the festive season, and is a magical and heart-warming way to feel the spirit of Christmas.
