Your local Scout group needs you!

Castle Canyke Scout Group, based in Bodmin, is appealing for new volunteers to join their team this year, future-proofing activities and support for local scout members.

Castle Canyke is the smaller of the two scout groups in Bodmin, and has three sections: Beavers (ages 6-8), Cubs (ages 8-10), and Scouts (ages 10-14), all of which are based at their recently improved scout hut on Castle Canyke Road.

With a waiting list of children, the need for more scout leaders is more crucial than ever to allow all local youngsters the opportunity to benefit from joining their local scout group. In particular, Castle Canyke is looking to recruit leaders for existing sections, and to help establish a new Squirrel section for children aged 4 to 6.

Each section of the group is driven to help children find their voices, learn new skills and grow in confidence while having fun, so a passion for working with young people is essential. New volunteers will be welcomed into a friendly leadership team led by Petra Jory, with training and support provided to pair volunteers with the right role for them.

Anyone interested in joining the leadership team at Castle Canyke should contact Sue Newman on 07919885100 or email 1stcastlecanykescoutgroup@gmail.com. Anyone who isn’t Bodmin-based and wants to find out more opportunities in North Cornwall can email North@cornwallscouts.org.uk for more information.
