Police put out message following string of robberies
Launceston Police have advised the public to remain vigilant, following an increasing number of reported break-ins and burglaries in the area.
It can be disheartening to learn of incidents like this when scrolling through the local Facebook pages, but perhaps it serves as a reminder that community is our strength. The more we look out for others, we may just find that the number of incidents will fall.
Launceston Police’s recent message outlines the importance of staying vigilant, ensuring your home is secure, and turning to neighbours for extra support.
The police said: “Entry has been gained by forcing entry which would have made some noise, so if you hear anything unusual, do get it checked out.
“Just take a moment to ensure your home is secure when you leave it; in the hot weather please check your windows are locked even if they’re on trickle draught.
“If you’ve got a home security system, ensure you activate it when you leave home.
“Where possible, if you’re away from your address please ask a trusted friend or neighbour to keep an eye on it, and take measures to make it look like someone is home.”
