Nominations for a worthy person or group are open from midday on Wednesday 22nd October and will close at midday on Wednesday 19th November.

Organised by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, this much-loved community event marks the official start of the festive season. Each year, a local individual, community group or organisation is nominated to take centre stage and officially light up the town.

Whether it’s a volunteer who has gone above and beyond, a young person who has inspired others, or an unsung hero, this is an opportunity to honour those who have made a positive impact on the town.

Nominations are easy, via a simple online form on falmouth.co.uk with a deadline of midday on Wednesday 19th November. Details should include the nominee’s name, a brief description of why they deserve to be recognised and their contact details. The lucky individual or group selected will then be invited to take centre stage at 7pm for the official switch-on event on Thursday 27th November.

It’s a real celebration of community spirit and provides an opportunity to recognise those who contribute so much to our amazing town. The Christmas Lights Switch-on is the beginning of a packed Christmas calendar in Falmouth, filled with family-friendly activities across the town.

• Falmouth Christmas Tree Festival, Sunday 30th November to Friday 2nd January – Festive celebrations as Christmas trees decorated by community groups are illuminated at the Princess Pavilion.
• The Poly Christmas Market, Friday 5th to Sunday 7th December – A weekend full of beautiful crafts and festive cheer.
• Festive Weekend, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December – Falmouth transforms into a magical festive wonderland for one unforgettable weekend.
• Falmouth Fire Station’s Santa’s Grotto, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th December – Falmouth Fire Station hosts a magical drive-through Christmas grotto.
• Harmony Choir, Wednesday 24th December – Filling the streets of Falmouth with festive song, as they have done for over 100 years.
