Bronze award for Bridge Bike Hire

Bridge Bike Hire, the original Camel Trail bike hire established in 1983, has been awarded Bronze in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award category at the prestigious Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025.

The award was presented at a ceremony held at Truro Cathedral on 13th November.

Bridge Bike Hire was recognised for its exceptional commitment to creating an inclusive cycling experience on Cornwall's beloved Camel Trail. The business has invested significantly in specialist equipment including wheelchair bikes and recumbent Ice trikes as well as other accessible cycling options and comprehensive staff training in accessibility awareness and basic Makaton sign language.

"This recognition means the world to our team," said Kelly, Director at Bridge Bike Hire. "After 43 years in tourism, entering the Cornwall Tourism Awards for the first time and winning Bronze in this category validates all the work we've done to ensure everyone – regardless of their abilities – can enjoy the magic of the Camel Trail.

“Getting to the finals opened doors for us within the community and we are already working on a number of projects with groups across Cornwall to create accessible experiences for  both locals and visitors.  Building on our current work, we are excited to make our investment in specialist equipment and training bring joy to as many people as possible."

As the only Camel Trail bike hire with direct, traffic-free access to the Camel Trail, Bridge Bike Hire is uniquely positioned to serve families and visitors with accessibility needs. The business has worked extensively with accessibility experts and invested in both equipment and training to create an environment where all visitors feel genuinely welcome.

Bridge Bike Hire will next be attending the Cornwall Sustainability Awards on 5th December in Falmouth, having been invited to participate due to their innovative bike renovation system, waste reduction initiatives, and development of a circular economy with local businesses.
