Celebrate the start of winter in Wadebridge

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it all starts with Wadebridge’s Christmas lights switch-on and late night shopping event on Friday, 28th November.

Every year, Wadebridge comes alive with festive cheer thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers from across the community. Since 2014, Wadebridge Town Council has coordinated the Christmas lights throughout the town, managing everything from hiring the necessary equipment to arranging repairs and maintenance.

The installation and removal of the lights is a true community effort. Local business Davey Electrical Services leads the work, with their team generously volunteering their time and expertise to hang the lights, conduct safety inspections, and carry out any repairs needed throughout the season. They're supported by a large group of community volunteers who help with both the installation in late November and the take-down in the New Year.

The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm at the bandstand on Friday evening, but the fun doesn’t end there. Molesworth Street will be a hive of activity with Discovery Market, which will have a wide range of artisan makers and producers’ goods on offer from 10am until 8pm. Continue your Christmas shopping at the town hall with the ‘Big Christmas Market’, on from 10.30am until 7.30pm.

Plus Connect Church will once again be running a Christmas trail, starting at the church between 5.30pm and 8pm. Expect prizes and hot chocolate, plus free entry.

It’s all shaping up to be a magical start to Christmas 2025.
