Wendy, who last year became a ‘living Christmas tree’ to raise money for charity, this year set herself the challenge of dressing up as a pom-pom covered Rudolph to encourage clients and passers-by to donate to a very worthy cause: Cornwall Hospice Care.
She chose Cornwall Hospice Care as the charity to support this year, as she was intent on ensuring that any money raised would benefit the local community. Many people in the area have experienced the support that the charity provides to those on end-of-life care, plus their carers and families.
So with the charity decided, the next step was to come up with a weird and wonderful fundraising idea! Alongside a raffle, Wendy also decided to dress up as Rudolph at work and encourage people to choose a lucky red pom-pom to pin on her, with a chance of winning a prize.
Initially, Wendy wanted to raise £1,070 - the cost of 24 hours’ care for one patient at Cornwall Hospice Care - but she has gone above and beyond, and is now up to approximately £4,350 - and counting!
A spokesperson from Wadebridge Osteopaths said: “Wendy and everyone at Wadebridge Osteopaths want to say a huge thank you for really getting behind Wendy and her fundraising - she has had an amazing lot of raffle prizes donated, as well as prizes for the lucky pom-pom and the silent auctions. We’re also hugely grateful to everyone who has donated and bought tickets, such a huge amount has been raised already. But mostly a huge thank you to Wendy, for all her amazing efforts and for dressing up and bringing a lot of festive cheer into our lives!”
Wendy will bring the fundraiser to a close this Thursday, so if you’d like to support the fundraiser, you can still make donations or buy raffle tickets or lucky Pom poms by popping into Wadebridge Osteopaths or contacting Wendy directly through her Facebook page.
