Exciting changes at Wadebridge Methodist Church

A beautiful new building is nearing completion in the centre of Wadebridge!

Many Wadebridge folk expressed dismay when the crumbling old chapel affectionately known as ‘Coffee Corner’ was taken down along with shared memories of times spent there enjoying various activities over the years.

Today, completion for the new Wadebridge Methodist Church is in sight.

The builders, Bazeley Construction, have done an amazingly careful job along with their various contracted local skilled trades people. Most of the existing Delabole slates have been reused, keeping that vital connection with the past. The Bible Christian Movement built their first chapel on this site in 1841/42.

As holders of a Bronze Eco Church Award, the church fellowship endeavoured to source materials locally. The building is highly insulated, with solar panels and an air source heat pump to ensure a comfortable internal temperature, all to minimise carbon footprint and running costs whilst using the building and improve its standing as an Eco Church. It is a building looking to the future.

When fully open, the building will be available for hire, with the lift to the first floor making it accessible to everyone in the community. As an inclusive church fellowship, all are welcome to enjoy this wonderful new space.

A spokesperson from Wadebridge Methodist Church said: “We look forward to sharing our new building and learning how the people of Wadebridge could use a modern, accessible building that will become a place where new memories are made.”

Opening events are hoped to take place from late March into April. For updates, keep a lookout on Facebook -  Cornerstone: Wadebridge Methodist Church
