The students, who are studying Digital Media with Falmouth University at a Bodmin-based campus, are producing a ten-minute drama, 'Melted Butter'.

Working under the guidance of award-winning director Jon Drever, the students will be filming in and around Bodmin between 20th and 28th April, and are currently running a casting call for local actors aged 18 to 25, as well as extras from the community.

Melted Butter is written and directed by Grace Combellack, exploring themes of obsession, longing and coming of age. The project is an exciting opportunity for the students to push themselves creatively, both visually and narratively, as they develop their voices as emerging filmmakers.

Rosie Morris, assistant director, explained: "To help bring the film to the screen, we have launched a crowdfunder which will support key elements of production, including locations, set design, and collaboration with talented actors who can help realise the story in a powerful and authentic way. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us overcome financial barriers and create the strongest possible versions of the film while supporting a new generation of local filmmakers.

"Alongside fundraising, we're also currently casting for several roles and would love to hear from performers who might be interested in getting involved. As a student-led production, we are really excited to collaborate with local and emerging talent and bring new voices into the project."

Roles on offer include Millie, an introspective, sensitive, emotionally complex and deeply obsessive character; Ethel: independent, elusive and emotionally detached, representing both desire and idealisation for Millie; and Nell: a supporting character who is Millie's friend. There will also be two additional roles for Millie's friends and an extra background role.
