'How painting changed my life' - Latest exhibition at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall

An exhibition taking place at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall this spring is exploring how art can play a positive role in mental health recovery.

Local artist Jane Southern took up painting five years ago as a way of dealing with a difficult period in her life. Before this, she had always had a love for photography, and her photos of Falmouth and the Cornish coast provided inspiration for her art.

The exhibition, which is running now until Sunday, 19th April, will explore Jane’s personal experiences of learning how to paint and draw, and how it helped ease a challenging time in her life. A range of Jane’s art work will be on display, showcasing her artistic development and some of the pieces that reflect the beautiful landscapes of Cornwall.

The exhibition is part of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s series of artist-led exhibitions, giving local artists  the opportunity to showcase their work to the public.

You can view the exhibition, How Painting Changed My Life, at the museum until Sunday, 19th April.
