Cornish teen sets sights on Mont Blanc while climbing for veterans
Launceston’s 16-year-old Finn is steadily working towards an extraordinary attempt on Mont Blanc, combining adventure, determination and community spirit as he raises funds to support veterans rebuilding their futures.

Sixteen-year-old Finn from Launceston is climbing towards an incredible goal to take on Mont Blanc next summer, with hopes of becoming one of the youngest Cornish climbers to reach the 4,810m summit, all while raising funds for HighGround UK - and he’s already making brilliant progress.
Over the past few months, Finn has been steadily building his skills and confidence through dedicated training climbs and winter ascents. He has successfully summited Snowdon and recently tackled Fitzenkogel in Austria, both important milestones as he prepares for one of Europe’s most iconic peaks. These climbs mark the exciting beginning of a training plan he has carefully put together to build the strength, endurance and mountain knowledge needed for Mont Blanc.
Alongside the physical training, Finn has also launched his YouTube channel, mountmaser, and is sharing regular updates through Instagram @mountainmaser, giving followers a behind-the-scenes look at the highs, challenges and adventures that come with chasing a dream this big. His journey is already gaining momentum, with appearances in local newspapers and on RewindRadio helping spread the word across Cornwall.
The challenge is about more than reaching the summit. HighGround UK supports veterans and service leavers as they transition into land-based careers, offering guidance, training and fresh opportunities. With ambitions to join the Royal Marines in the future, the charity holds real meaning for Finn, making this climb a true passion project.
Support so far has been fantastic, and Finn has already reached just over 10% of his £5,000 fundraising target. With plenty of training still ahead, he would love the community to continue backing the challenge.
Finn would like to say a massive thank you to one of his business sponsors Horizon Home Improvements in Launceston, who have donated towards his costs to reach the peak. If you are a business and would like to contribute in return for print and digital exposure you can contact Finn though our content team - content@life-media.co.uk and we will pass your details on.
If you would like to support Finn, follow his social media channels and cheer him on along the way.
