Countdown on for Cornwall Open Studios

The countdown is on for this year's Cornwall Open Studios events, taking place across the county from Saturday, 24th May.

The event gives the public the opportunity to meet Cornish artists, explore their studios and find out 'how it's done'. A total of 282 artists and makers at around 240 venues will be throwing open their studio doors this year from 24th May until 1st June.

The event began in 1998 as a way to connect artists with their local communities. In 2024, the event's funding was withdrawn, but was quickly relaunched by Penzance artist and previous exhibitor Jeremy Sanders, a move that has secured Cornwall Open Studios' future.

The events are free to attend, and you may even want to make a couple of purchases while you're there! All proceeds go to the artist.

All artists' work can be previewed at at the Cornwall Open Studios website, where each artist can post up to 60 images. They also show full details of how to find their venue. The ‘artists nearby’ website feature makes it easy to select studios to visit and plan an itinerary.

Jeremy Sanders, founder of Cornwall Open Studios, said: “It’s very exciting to see all the creative work on our website and I can tell the in-person studios shows are going to offer something for everyone. I’m sure thousands of people will enjoy a great day out in their part of creative Cornwall.”

There will also be the chance for visitors to Open Studios events to enter a free prize draw. Simply scan the QR code at a studio and enter your email address for a chance to win an original painting worth up to £300.

There is the chance to win an original piece of art, like this piece by Jeremy Sanders, 'Ray of Light, St Ives'.
