Volunteers are working hard at Lawrence House Museum

The volunteers at Lawrence House Museum have been busy working hard behind the scenes, as they prepare for two new exhibitions this spring and summer.

Starting from 31st March, ‘Agriculture in the Launceston Area’ will delve into the lives and work of hard-working farmers over the years. You can visit the exhibition at Merchant House, in the Town Square, Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm, and Saturdays, 10.30am-1pm.

Opening at Merchant House at the end of July, ‘The Normans and Launceston’ will explore the days after William the Conqueror invaded England, looking at our Norman castle and town, the earliest founded in Cornwall.

On Wednesday, 1st July, Professor Levi Roach of Exeter University, author of ‘The Empires of the Normans’, will give an illustrated talk in Launceston Town Hall at 6pm. The event will include a wine bar. Tickets are just £5 for adults, while under 18s go free, and are available to buy from Launceston Visitor Information Centre, online or on the door (cash only).
