Falmouth Ceilidh event to fundraise for the RNLI
It’s time to throw on your dancing shoes as an exciting fundraiser comes to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall this March.
Organised by Falmouth Lifeboat Fundraisers, The Lifeboat Ceilidh will take place on Saturday, 28th March in the main boat hall of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
Ceilidh is a traditional Scottish-Irish dance. Buzzing, energetic and rooted in folk heritage, the dances are typically performed amongst a throng of people, often to the lively tunes of a ceilidh band. No previous experience of ceilidhs is necessary, as caller Claire Ingleheart and The Tinners Ceilidh Band will guide everyone through the fun-filled dancing. The Tinners hail from deep Cornwall, with Richard Hume on flute and whistle, Emily Quick on fiddle, and Paul Lewin on guitar.
Organiser Claire Thomas said: “We have some fabulous raffle prizes available at the event provided by local businesses, including £100 voucher from the Beach House restaurant at Swanpool, £100 Finisterre voucher, a Kiln Quay sauna voucher for a private group session, a Fal River family one day Mussel card, and a voucher for afternoon tea for two At Falmouth Hotel. Buy your tickets very soon as last time we sold out!”
Tickets to the event are £20 and include a pasty from Pip’s. There will also be a bar and raffle available. Doors open at 7pm for dancing to begin at 7.30pm and continuing until around 10.30pm (or whenever your feet get sore!). To purchase tickets, pop into the RNLI shop Monday to Saturday.
