Celebrate Christmas in Steam and Style at Bodmin Railway

From heart-warming steam journeys to twinkling festive markets and all new murder mystery missions, Bodmin Railway is gearing up for a spectacular Christmas season, filled with heritage charm and fun for all ages.

Santa by Steam

Throughout weekends in December (and  22nd- 24th), families can join Father Christmas and his elves for an enchanting trip on a full-size heritage steam train. All children receive a special gift in traditionally decorated carriages on the most magical journeys of the year!

For guests seeking a gentler experience, the Quiet Santa Train on 7th and 21st December at 10.00 am provides a sensory-sensitive environment with soft lighting, no loud whistles, reduced capacity and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Christmas Murder Mystery Trains

For an evening of intrigue and festive drama, the Christmas Murder Mystery Trains return. Partnering with the southwest’s Murder by Appointment, the railway invites families, friends and colleagues to solve a whodunnit aboard a vintage carriage. Will you crack the case before the train arrives back in the station?

Christmas Markets

Mark your diaries for 25th November and 16th December when the station plays host to enchanting Christmas Markets. The heritage steam train and silver band carols provide a magical backdrop as you browse local crafts and festive gifts and enjoy mulled wine or cider on the twinkling platform.

Mulled Wine Express

On 19th December, the New Mulled Wine Express offers a nostalgic 50-minute steam trip through Cornwall’s countryside with mince pies and mulled wine. Santa won’t be present  for this trip as he’ll be busy in his workshop but it promises to leave everyone feeling in the festive spirit!

Christmas Dining Trains

On 10th December (lunch) and 18th December (evening supper), there’s a delicious dining experience with a difference. Guests can choose a 2-course lunch or a 3-course evening supper, featuring local produce freshly prepared by Kernow Street Kitchen and served in one of the railway’s traditional compartments or carriages during a gentle journey along this historic line.
