Pink Wig event back for 2025
Falmouth’s Pink Wig Parade is back with a splash this summer, relaunching with a ‘Mermaid March’ theme and a silent disco party in efforts to support Cornwall’s breast cancer facility.
The event will now be delivered by Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity and Falmouth Town Team, all in aid of the Mermaid Centre, Cornwall’s dedicated breast cancer facility.
It comes as supporters of the much-loved event were previously left disappointed at the announcement that it would no longer go ahead. The new partnership means the event can continue its fantastic work, while bringing the community together to support women who have been affected by breast cancer.
Now, women are encouraged to find their pinkest garments and don a pink wig to join the march, set to take place on Friday, 8th August. The event will kickstart Falmouth Week in style, with a wave of pink parading through the town with the aim of ‘uniting women in a powerful display of strength, support and solidarity for those affected by breast cancer’.
More than 1,000 women are expected to take part in the march, which will set off from the Greenbank Hotel. People are welcome to walk alongside the parade or cheer them on from the sidelines, and a silent disco will take place in the Falmouth Week event marquee in the evening. All funds raised will be donated to the Mermaid Centre, continuing the legacy established by the Pink Wig Committee, who have raised an incredible £220,000 for breast cancer charities over the years.
