Falmouth's Festive Weekend hailed a great success

Falmouth’s Festive Weekend brought joy to the town as thousands of visitors enjoyed a full programme of seasonal attractions despite challenging weather conditions. Thanks to a robust wet weather contingency plan, activities continued across the town centre and indoors at the Princess Pavilion, ensuring that the celebrations remained safe, welcoming and full of festive cheer.

Visitors enjoyed a wide range of experiences including rides on the festive land train, snowball fights inside the giant snow globe, gliding along the artificial ice rink with friends, exploring wintery streets, listening to live Christmas music and meeting Santa in his grotto.

Local businesses also embraced the festivities through the annual Christmas Shop Window Competition. This year’s Large Window winner was Cream Cornwall, recognised for its striking display of giant baubles. Salt Art Supply was awarded the Small Window prize for its beautifully crafted handmade decorations.

In a highlight that truly made the weekend, Father Christmas took time out from his busiest month of the year to share a few words with us. He said, “it was a joy to meet so many wonderful families in Falmouth. Even with the blustery weather, the spirit of Christmas shone brightly throughout the town. What a magical way to start the festive season!”

Falmouth Town Council and the Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID) extend gratitude to all performers, suppliers, volunteers and businesses who helped bring the event to life. The Festive Weekend once again highlighted Falmouth’s creativity, resilience and strong community spirit, providing a sparkling start to the Christmas season.
