Falmouth gets ready for annual International Sea Shanty Festival this weekend
Summer’s events are already creeping up on us, as we get ready to welcome back the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival this weekend!

This is always a highly anticipated weekend in the Falmouth events calendar, with more than 80 shanty groups and musicians from across the UK and Europe gathering in our special corner of the world to sing their hearts out.
Sticking with the coastal theme over the weekend, the festival coincides with the ‘Falmouth Classics’ regatta, where classic boats will be sailing Falmouth’s waters in races, parades and other events over the weekend.
From this Friday, 13th until Sunday 15th, sea shanties will be heard from every corner of the town, with tunes set to stop shoppers in their tracks as music floats from street-to-street. There will be performances across four main stages in the town, located at Events Square, Church Street car park, The Greenbank Hotel, and Falmouth Hotel. Other events and performances will spread out across plenty of local venues, so wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, you’re sure to be dragged into the spirit of the festival.
Whether you are after an excuse to boogie with friends until the sun goes down, want to sit back with a beer and chill, or would like to transport yourself back to old Falmouth, when sailors would sing their songs from the comfort of the alehouses, there will be something for everyone.
We couldn’t think of a better reason to come into town, gather with your community and celebrate Falmouth and Cornwall’s musical and maritime heritage.
