Sparkling line-up of music at Cornwall Folk Festival this August

Cornwall Folk Festival builds on its success of recent years, starting with an energetic Nos Lowen, and ending with an action-packed day at its outdoor, Wadebridge town-centre FAR Stage, to bring you a long weekend full of sparkle and great music.

The five double-bill evening concerts include furious guitar from Tim Edey and traditional tones from Jackie Oates. Ireland’s gorgeous Henry Girls bring their Celtic and Americana mix to Wadebridge Town Hall, Merry Hell are back to, well, raise merry hell, and there’s more lovely female trio Americana from The Magpies.

The Countrymen set the energy level for the weekend, Martha Woods is on an artistic roll and Wake the River flow with eco-tinged warmth. The Betjeman Centre will echo with emotive sounds of Baths’ Humm and the bubbly Nicole Tesseyman’s as she sings the praises of hometown St Ives.

Wake the River

The three-day outdoor FAR Stage includes strong trad-based sets from Toby Kessell and Jen Dyer and the reformed Salt and Sky. There’s young talent with Karenza Lily-May from Padstow and shanty-trio Kessenyan, before it gets rowdier with the likes of Du Glas, Smokin’ Pilchards and Banjovial. This wide variety of music is yours for a ridiculously modest £6 per day or £12 for family groups.

Plus plenty of free music and dance in town centre locations, lively sessions in several pubs across the long weekend, and morning music workshops.
